Christina Ricci was born in Santa Monica, California, and moved
to suburban Montclair, New York at age seven. A local movie critic,
who was in the audience at a grade school performance, told her parents
to get her an agent. Soon, Christina was working in commercials, and
a year later got her first movie role, as Cher's daughter in Mermaids.
Christina played Wednesday in The
Addams Family, and established herself as a child star in Casper,
which audiences loved despite the reviews.
When her parents divorced in 1993, Christina
moved with her mother to Manhattan, where she attended the Professional
Children's Acting School and suffered from anorexia and depression.
Her first adult role was in Ang
Lee's The Ice Storm, followed by several indie films,
including Buffalo '66 and The Opposite of Sex, which
brought her a Golden Globe nomination. Christina's role in Sleepy
Hollow with Johnny Depp was her first big studio venture.
Currently, Christina lives in Los Angeles
and is acting in, directing, and/or producing four films this year.
She also had a recurring role on TV's Ally McBeal in
its final season.

"I think I was born with a rebel gene, and
acting allows me to exercise it legally."
"I'm just incredibly boring. Write that! I'm just kind of normal.
I have dogs and I like my dogs. I decorate my house (in L.A.) when
I'm not working. I go to the gym and I go to movies. I don't ever
go to big Hollywood parties because I always feel underdressed."
"Johnny Depp was like 'You can bite me really hard,' and I was
like, 'There's no way I'm going to bite you harder than that..'"
